About Dr. Arlien

Carla Arlien, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist in Pennsylvania and is an associate of the Bluestem Behavioral Heath Group Practice. She is located in Beaver Pennsylvania, which is 30 minutes away from Pittsburgh, PA. Dr. Arlien received her Bachelors of Science Degree in Psychology with a gerontology minor from the University of North Dakota. She earned her doctorate in clinical psychology at Case Western Reserve University. Dr. Arlien completed her internship and fellowship in Clinical Geropsychology at the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System. She specializes in psychotherapy/counseling with adults of all ages, geriatric competency evaluations, and memory/Alzheimer's evaluations with adults over the age of 50. Dr. Arlien uses primarily Cognitive Behavioral Therapy during the course of treatment.

Dr. Arlien is a member of the American Psychological Association, Pennsylvania Psychological Association, Gerontological Society of America, and Psychologists in Long Term Care. She also is on staff at the Beaver Medical Center (Heritage Valley Healthcare System) and Kindred Hospital.

Dr. Arlien serves as a consultant to several nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and personal care homes. She also gives presentations on topics including, but not limited to: Alzheimer's Disease, Memory Loss, Memory Training, Caregiving, Competency evaluations, Psychotherapy, and Mental illness.
